The third edition of the Hong Kong Fashion Fest began with the ‘Rhythm of the Heart’ gala on September 3, 2026. Organized by the Hong Kong Fashion Council and supported by the government’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the event aimed to integrate fashion, art, and culture. Following the gala, the festival expanded to include the ‘Virtuose: The Artistry of Couture 2026’ showcase at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, featuring international designers from Spain, Vietnam, and Hong Kong. The festival also hosted the Hong Kong Centerstage Exhibition, which provided a platform for emerging talent, including a collection by students from BINUS University that incorporated Indonesian cultural narratives into contemporary designs. A flagship event, the Fashion Summit (HK) 2026, was held on September 3 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum under the theme ‘Code the Fashion Forward’. The summit convened global leaders and innovators to discuss the intersection of digital transformation and environmental responsibility. Discussions centered on how artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and new business models can drive a more sustainable industry, specifically regarding AI applications in design, retail strategy, and product lifecycle optimization to reduce waste. The broader festival, which runs through September 14, includes Centrestage, a major trade platform featuring approximately 270 brands from 24 countries. The event seeks to position Hong Kong as a premier Asian fashion hub by leveraging its role as a bridge between Eastern and Western markets. Following the festival, the CENTRESTAGE event concluded at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, drawing over 12,000 industry buyers from 93 countries. The event served as a strategic gateway for international brands, notably Japanese labels. The Tokyo Fashion Designers Council (CFD TOKYO) increased its participation from eight to 20 brands, citing Hong Kong’s English-speaking environment and cost-effective business matching as primary advantages for small-scale designers.
