A study by the Hong Kong Institute of Family Education found that social media and excessive screen time are major drivers of domestic conflict, with over 80 per cent of reported family disputes tied to screen use. The institute noted that many students, particularly in senior secondary school, significantly exceed recommended daily limits for leisure screen time and has suggested government legislation to restrict social media use for those under 16.

Studies indicate that a majority of primary students feel overwhelmed by assessments, while academic stress is a primary cause of school absenteeism among secondary students. Key stressors include heavy workloads and poor academic performance. Experts recommend a multi-layered response involving emotional support from families, optimized assessment methods in schools, and strengthened government community resources.
