Horizon Robotics intelligent driving market expansion

Horizon Robotics is navigating a shift in the Chinese automotive industry from electrification toward intelligent driving technologies. During the first half of 2026, the company transitioned its business model, with revenue from licensing and services—such as its BPU intelligent computing architecture and AI foundation models—surpassing revenue from products and solutions for the first time. While the company reported a net profit increase due to fair value changes from a convertible loan to CARIAD, its core operating business recorded a loss of 1.67 billion yuan, attributed to high research and development expenditures.

Following this strategic shift, the company announced that its Journey series intelligent driving chips have surpassed 15 million units in cumulative mass production, making it the first Chinese firm to reach such scale in this sector. The Journey series, including the Journey 6B and 6M, supports various levels of assisted driving and urban navigation. Horizon Robotics has established partnerships with over 40 automotive brands, including all of China’s top ten automakers, and its technology is utilized in vehicles exported globally.
