Various horror and Halloween-themed festivals have been announced for 2026 in Mexico and Colombia. In Colombia, the Salitre Mágico amusement park in Bogotá will host its 11th Festival del Terror from October 2 to November 1. The event will feature new scare zones, a horror house titled ‘Blood Horror’ inspired by cinema, and a new host character named EsLenny. Ticketing options include a ‘two-night terror passport’ and a ‘Platinum Passport’ that offers a guided ‘RIP Tour’ of themed houses and the Drakko roller coaster. Additionally, Bogotá will host the eighth edition of the Bogotá Horror Film Festival from October 22 to 31. Centered on horror, suspense, and dark fantasy, the festival will take place primarily at the Cinemateca de Bogotá. It will include the second ‘Encuentro de Amantes del Género’ to connect industry professionals and a pitch component for new projects. In Mexico, Saltillo is set to host Terror Fest 2026 on October 17 and 18 at the Canacintra Convention Center, featuring paranormal content creators. Local folklore in Saltillo involving old mansions and rural superstitions is also being compared to the atmospheres of films such as ‘The Witch’ and ‘The Blair Witch Project’. Further cultural programming in Saltillo includes the ‘Anidando Cine’ film cycle at the Museo de las Aves de México, which features free Wednesday screenings of films like ‘The Others’, ‘The Devil’s Backbone’, ‘Coraline’, and ‘The Village’ throughout October. Mexico City’s seasonal activities include the annual Zombie Walk in the Historic Center and several urban legend tours. Available options include tram tours through Coyoacán, the Historic Center, and Roma-Condesa, the ‘Turibús del Terror’ visiting houses associated with scary stories, and the ‘El Nahual’ experience in the canals of Xochimilco.
