Following its 10 September 2026 release, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush has transitioned the franchise from traditional closed circuits to an open-world experience. The game features four distinct islands—the metropolitan streets of Wheelswood, the natural landscapes of Tentacle Bay, the desert canyons of Gearville, and the East Asian-inspired Drifty Temples—which players can navigate using a teleportation system known as the ‘Launcher’. Gameplay emphasizes arcade-style physics and momentum, utilizing brake-triggered drifting across four vehicle classes: Speeders, Drifters, Titans, and Versatiles. Beyond racing, players can engage in ‘Daredevil challenges’ to collect special vehicles, perform ‘Delivery Stunts’, and utilize a ‘Track Builder’ tool for custom circuit construction. While the title offers ‘frictionless, chaotic fun’, early critical reception noted a potential lack of depth in the open-world design. To expand the roster, Mattel and Milestone have announced a collaboration with Formula 1 to introduce the ‘F1 Car Collection Pack’ in March 2027. This pack will feature all 22 official Formula 1 team cars from the 2026 season, modeled after their Hot Wheels die-cast counterparts. These vehicles will be added to the existing roster of over 150 cars and will be classified under the ‘Speeder’ category. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, ROG Ally, Ally X, and PC. In addition to gaming developments, Mattel Studios has announced a new Netflix special titled ‘Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Attack of the T-Rex’, scheduled for release on 20 October. The animation follows the character Coop and his crew as they attempt to protect Hot Wheels City from a prehistoric T-Rex. Following its Netflix debut, the special will also be available on the Hot Wheels YouTube channel.
