In late September 2026, the Luxeed RX, a large electric SUV coupe developed by Huawei and Chery, was officially launched. Built on Huawei’s Tuling platform, the vehicle utilizes an 800V high-voltage SiC power platform and the Huawei Whale 800V battery system, which incorporates “black box” technology for safety monitoring. Pricing for the Luxeed RX starts at 259,800 yuan for the lidar version and 319,800 yuan for the version equipped with L3-level autonomous driving architecture. The model, which features a design led by former Ferrari designer Werner Gruber, has already set a lap record for Chinese-brand production SUVs at the Zhejiang International Circuit. Technical specifications for the RX include a 3,000 mm wheelbase and a body length of 5,020 mm. Depending on the battery configuration—either an 81 kWh LFP pack or a 100 kWh ternary lithium pack—the vehicle offers a CLTC range of up to 852 km. Following the RX launch, Luxeed announced the rollout of test drive vehicles for the updated Luxeed R7. The first batch has arrived at 200 stores across 77 Chinese cities, including Beijing and Guangdong. The updated R7 features eight major upgrades supported by a 500 million yuan investment. The lineup includes four versions: Max (239,800 yuan), Max+ (259,800 yuan), Max+ Long Range (289,800 yuan), and Ultra (319,800 yuan), with the long-range variant offering a CLTC range of up to 855 km. Executive Director Zhao Changjiang stated that deliveries are scheduled to begin at the end of October 2026. During the RX launch, Huawei executive Yu Chengdong reaffirmed the strategic shift within the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). While AITO remains a core brand, future development for AITO will be led by Seres with Huawei providing technical empowerment. This restructuring is intended to allow HIMA to reallocate resources toward other brands, including Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro.
