Huelva El Torrejón shooting trial

Overview

Following a shooting in the El Torrejón neighborhood of Huelva on September 10, 2024, which resulted in one death and two injuries, legal proceedings have progressed through the Huelva Provincial Court.

In early October 2026, the court ordered a two-year extension of the provisional prison term for Manuel Salazar, known as ‘El Baba’. The prosecution is seeking 28 years and six months for Salazar, covering charges of premeditated murder, attempted homicide, and illegal possession of weapons. Other individuals face charges, including a cousin of the accused for concealment and the brother of the deceased, Luis Moriña, for attempted homicide.

By mid-October 2026, the trial officially commenced. The proceedings, which include witness testimonies and expert evidence, aim to determine criminal responsibility for the death of Ramón Moriña and the related injuries. Salazar remains held in isolation at the Morón de la Frontera prison.
