Human rights and child exploitation in Pakistan

Overview

Pakistan is facing significant scrutiny regarding human rights violations, specifically concerning online child sexual exploitation and transnational repression. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) reported that the country acts as both a site of victimization and a node in global networks for the production and circulation of child sexual abuse material. In one instance, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) dismantled an international network in the Muzaffargarh district that allegedly live-streamed abuse on the dark web.

Parallel to digital exploitation, reports from the Asian Centre for Human Rights have identified instances of transnational repression targeting journalists and political opponents in 14 different countries.

Domestically, authorities are also investigating multiple physical sexual assault cases involving minors. Recent incidents include the assault of a domestic worker in Faisalabad, a student in a Multan school canteen, and a young child in Kot Addu. These cases have led to various arrests and public condemnation from regional leadership.
