In Hungary, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in 2026 fall on Sunday, November 1. Because the holiday occurs on a Sunday, it will not result in an additional day off for standard work schedules, and normal working hours will resume on Monday, November 2. While most grocery stores and shopping centers are expected to close on November 1, certain businesses such as pharmacies, gas stations, 24-hour convenience stores, and flower shops will remain operational. In Budapest, Budapesti Közművek has announced that public cemeteries, including Új Köztemető, Farkasréti, and Óbudai, will offer extended hours from 7:00 to 20:00 between October 30 and November 2. Commemorative activities are planned, including an ecumenical service at Farkasréti cemetery and light and music displays at Új Köztemető. Joint candle-lighting ceremonies will be held at several locations on November 1. To ensure tranquility, vehicle access to most municipal cemeteries will be prohibited on October 31 and November 1, though vehicle entry at Új Köztemető will be free of charge during specific periods. In Eger, municipal cemeteries including Grőber, Lajosvárosi, and Hősök will extend their hours from 7:00 to 22:00. Local authorities in Eger are increasing the presence of civil guards and public space supervisors, working with the local police department to ensure safety. To manage increased traffic, bus services will be intensified and MÁV is adjusting train schedules. Additionally, recent infrastructure improvements were noted at the Lajosvárosi cemetery, including a 14.29 million HUF renovation of urn walls.
