Following the fifth round of the OTP Bank Liga, Puskás Akadémia FC remains at the top of the table after a 1–0 victory over Vasas FC. MTK Budapest also secured a win, defeating Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC 2–1 behind two goals from Gábor Jurek. Other results included a 2–0 win for Paks FC against Újpest FC and a three-goal victory for ETO FC over Zalaegerszeg. Controversy continues regarding Nyíregyháza coach Tamás Bódog, who is serving a four-match suspension following a dispute with a referee. This result represents the first time Újpest has secured a point at that venue since September 2016.
