A hydrochloric acid leak occurred in the Hendek district of Sakarya, Turkey, involving a truck transporting the substance from Kocaeli to Zonguldak. After noticing barrels leaking, the driver moved the vehicle to a side road near the Hendek Küçük Sanayi Sitesi to avoid populated areas. Two individuals, Serkan Akdeniz and Bedirhan G., suffered respiratory issues from inhaling chemical fumes. Akdeniz was injured while assisting the driver, and Bedirhan G. lost consciousness before being hospitalized. Emergency responders, including the fire department, police, gendarmerie, and AFAD, managed the scene. Firefighters utilized chemical foam to mitigate the spill, and authorities temporarily closed the side road near the D-100 highway and advised local residents to remain cautious near nearby watercourses.
