The HYLO Open badminton tournament in Saarbrücken, Germany, concluded with significant success for Indian players. PV Sindhu secured the women’s singles title, marking her second title of the season. In the final, the two-time Olympic medallist defeated Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt in straight games, 21-12, 21-14. Sindhu completed an unbeaten tournament campaign without dropping a single game. This victory earned her 9,200 ranking points, aiding her efforts to qualify for the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals. The win follows her Japan Open victory in July and a runner-up finish at the French Open. For her championship win, Sindhu earned USD 37,500 from the tournament’s USD 500,000 prize pool. In the men’s singles category, Lakshya Sen also claimed the title by defeating Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in the final. Sen had previously advanced to the championship match after defeating France’s Toma Junior Popov 21-17, 21-13 in the semifinals. His victory in the final, which ended 21-17, 21-10, marks his second Hylo Open title and his seventh BWF World Tour championship. Sen noted that the win provided a significant boost to his confidence following a period of inconsistent results. This dual victory represents the first time since 2022 that two Indian players have won titles at the same BWF World Tour event. Earlier in the tournament, the Indonesian women’s doubles pair Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti progressed to the semifinals. Other notable participants included German mixed doubles pairs Marvin Seidel and Thuc Nguyen, along with Stine Küspert and Isabel Lohau, who reached the quarterfinals.
