The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2026 in Amsterdam serves as a platform for major technological advancements and industry recognition. Scheduled for September 11–14 at the RAI Amsterdam, the event will feature a specialized program from SMPTE. These workshops and sessions are designed to address critical industry shifts, including cloud infrastructure, open-source media workflows, and sovereign AI and cloud technologies. In recognition of industry impact, Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) has been named the recipient of the IBC International Honour for Excellence. The award acknowledges OBS for its contributions to ultra-high-definition production, immersive audio, remote production workflows, and artificial intelligence within the Olympic Movement. Additionally, i2 media research received the award for Best Technical Paper for its work on reducing interaction barriers in internet-delivered TV systems for older viewers.
