Iberdrola is celebrating its 125th anniversary with an immersive exhibition at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid. The display covers historical milestones, such as Thales of Miletus’s observations of static electricity, Alessandro Volta’s creation of the first battery, and the “war of currents” between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla, while exploring how innovation transforms industry, mobility, and urban environments. The exhibition has attracted more than 20,000 visitors, leading to high demand that exhausted all available time slots and required an increase in planned ticket numbers. The initiative also engaged the educational community, with approximately 4,000 students from 40 schools participating in workshops focused on scientific fundamentals like electrical circuits and wireless energy transmission. To enhance the experience, the project utilizes 80 Apple Vision Pro devices and spatial computing, developed in collaboration with Ricoh España, to create mixed-reality environments exploring future cities driven by clean energy and digitalization. Alongside these celebrations, the company has announced scheduled power outages across several Madrid municipalities, including Getafe, Brunete, Meco, and Valdemoro, for the week of October 5 to October 11. These planned interruptions, ranging from a few minutes to over an hour, are intended to perform necessary repairs and maintain supply reliability.
