The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released the schedule and administrative details for the January 2027 CA Foundation and Intermediate examinations. In late September 2026, the ICAI announced that Foundation exams would occur on January 3, 5, 7, and 9, 2027, while Intermediate Group I and Group II exams would be held on January 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12, respectively. The examinations are set to be conducted in India as well as in international centers located in Bahrain, Dubai, and Kathmandu. Online applications for these exams were scheduled to open on November 3, 2026. By October 2026, the ICAI expanded its preparations by inviting eligible members to apply for empanelment as observers for the January 2027 examination cycle. The application window for these roles, which involve overseeing question-paper handling and identity checks, was set for 21 October 2026 through 20 November 2026. On October 12, 2026, the ICAI provided further administrative specifics regarding the application process. While online applications open on November 3, 2026, the deadline to submit forms without a late fee is November 16, 2026. A late fee option will remain available until November 19, 2026, followed by a correction window from November 20 to November 22, 2026. Additionally, the ICAI issued new guidelines for members in practice regarding professional service tenders. Under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, members are prohibited from responding to tenders that do not prescribe minimum fees for services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants. Members must ensure quoted fees are commensurate with the work's nature, volume, and manpower, and must maintain cost sheets for potential Institute review. On October 17, 2026, the ICAI released updated eligibility and registration requirements for the January 2027 cycle.
