The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier C commenced in Abuja, Nigeria, on 18 October 2026. The tournament involves six nations—Nigeria, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, and The Gambia—competing for two advancement spots in the 2027 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier. In the opening match, host nation Nigeria secured a 160-run victory over The Gambia. Nigeria posted 262 runs for one wicket, highlighted by Selim Salau’s unbeaten 105 and Isaac Danladi’s 86 runs. The Gambia was subsequently bowled out for 102 runs. During the event, the International Cricket Council commended the Nigeria Cricket Federation for improvements made to the tournament facilities in Abuja. Nigeria has since secured qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final 2027. This was achieved following a seven-wicket victory over Lesotho, marking Nigeria’s fourth win in the tournament after previous successes against The Gambia, Zambia, and Mozambique. In the match against Lesotho, Nigeria’s bowling attack dismissed the opposition for 62 runs, led by Chima Akachukwu’s four wickets for 14 runs. Nigeria subsequently reached the target of 65 runs in 7.4 overs, with Ridwan Abdulkareem and Miracle Akhigbe remaining unbeaten to complete the chase. Nigeria ultimately secured the tournament title with a one-run victory over Uganda in their final match, completing a perfect five-match campaign. In the deciding game, Nigeria posted 148 runs in 19.4 overs, supported by Isaac Danladi’s 47 runs. Despite Uganda’s Riazat Ali Shah scoring 60, Nigeria’s bowlers, including Sylvester Okpe and Isaac Okpe, restricted Uganda to finish just short of the target. This victory marked a significant turnaround for the Nigerian senior men’s team, the YellowGreens, who had previously lost all 13 of their T20I meetings against Uganda.
