The ICON blockchain is scheduled for a permanent shutdown on 31 December 2026, at which point it will transition into a read-only archive. The project is being integrated into SODAX, a cross-network execution and liquidity system. To facilitate this transition, token holders must migrate ICX to SODA, an ERC-20 token on the Sonic blockchain, at a 1:1 ratio. A two-way swap period is available until 30 September 2026, followed by a one-way conversion period until the end of the year. In conjunction with the network shutdown, the cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced it will delist the ICON (ICX) token, along with Secret (SCRT) and Storj (STORJ). For ICON, Binance will remove all spot trading pairs on 3 September 2026, with deposits ceasing on 4 September 2026 and withdrawals ending on 3 November 2026. Other services, including futures and margin trading, are scheduled for phase-out throughout August 2026. Following the delisting announcement, market volatility occurred as token prices reached historic lows. Specifically, ICON (ICX) fell by 12.5% and Secret (SCRT) declined by approximately 18.8% within 24 hours. Binance has scheduled the closing and settlement of futures contracts for these assets on 26 August 2026. Support for Margin Trading, Spot Copy Trading, and Binance Pay will also be phased out through late August and early September. Binance has advised users to sell assets or withdraw them to private wallets before the deadlines, noting that remaining balances may be automatically converted into stablecoins after the withdrawal period, though this is not guaranteed.
