The 46th National Immigrant Festival in Oberá, Misiones, continues at the Parque de las Naciones. Recent festivities included a ‘Brazilian Night’ featuring musical performances by groups such as Corpo e Alma and Cristian y La Ruta. The festival’s programming has expanded to include inclusive activities like ‘Hora Amigable’ for individuals with sensory sensitivities, alongside children’s workshops and performances from Spanish, Swiss, Portuguese, French, Ukrainian, and Paraguayan communities. The schedule also features electronic music events such as ‘Noche Haus’. The event currently showcases 16 different immigrant communities and the Pabellón Argentino, highlighting diverse traditions through architecture, music, dance, and typical houses. The culinary offerings are extensive, featuring over 450 traditional dishes, with specific highlights from the Italian community including arancini, focaccia, ossobuco milanés, tiramisu, and cannoli. Alongside the cultural displays, the festival hosts the 36th Commercial and Business Fair and the 44th Provincial Handicraft Fair, drawing significant crowds from Misiones, other Argentine provinces, and neighboring Brazil. Parallel to the festival, Misiones is observing the Month of Artigas. Commemorations honoring General José Gervasio Artigas include a central ceremony in Santa Ana at the Parque Temático de la Cruz, marking the site where Artigas sought refuge in September 1820. This ceremony involves the formal presentation of an Artigas bust, donated by Dr. Osvaldo Arén, to Governor Hugo Passalacqua. Other tributes at Campo San Expedito include equestrian displays, musical performances by artists such as Eduardo ‘Chito’ Lemes, and a historical reenactment of Artigas’s journey toward the Paraná River. Other regional cultural and gastronomic activities are also underway or being prepared across Argentina. In Famaillá, Tucumán, preparations continue for the 47th National Empanada Festival, scheduled for September 11–13. In Buenos Aires, a milanesa festival is being held at the Hipódromo Palermo, while the 10th edition of the Raíces Gauchas Festival takes place in Fraga, San Luis. Additional events include the 25th anniversary of the Leandro N. Alem Cultural Center in Río Grande and the 49th Provincial Immigrant Festival in Berisso.
