In early July 2026, the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) announced that its four vacation centers—Oaxtepec, Atlixco‑Metepec, La Trinidad, and Malintzi—were ready for summer visitors, offering discounted rates, 24‑hour operation, and a dog‑friendly program. Later that month, IMSS completed four new Centers of Education and Childcare (CECI) in Veracruz, each serving roughly 110 children, and opened registration for the ‘Imparable 2026’ summer recreational course in Oaxaca. On 29 July 2026, the institute inaugurated the ‘Verano IMSS Imparable 2026’ program, providing organized sports, cultural, and health‑promotion activities for more than 11,000 minors nationwide. During the launch, Zoé Robledo, representing the IMSS director‑general, expressed hope that the course would be ‘lleno de sonrisas, nuevos retos, amistades, grandes experiencias y mucha diversión para todas y todos.’ In August 2026, IMSS expanded its childcare network through several regional projects. In Michoacán, three new CECI facilities in Uruapan, Jiquilpan, and Tarímbaro are expected to be completed by November 2026, serving over 550 children through a joint state‑federal investment of approximately 215 million pesos. Additionally, municipal land donations will support centers in Ocotlán, Jalisco, and Ecatepec, Estado de México. Furthering its infrastructure strategy in the State of Mexico, IMSS plans to begin construction on seven more CECI facilities. The first four, located in Chalco, Nezahualcóyotl, Tlalnepantla, and Valle de Chalco, are scheduled for September, followed by three centers in Chicoloapan, Ixtapaluca, and Texcoco in October. These projects are part of the Integral Plan for the Eastern Zone of the State of Mexico, a collaborative effort to improve services for approximately 10 million residents. Director General Zoé Robledo Aburto stated this model aims to replace traditional daycare with an integral approach focused on child development.
