IMSS medical patient transfer from Chiapas and ICU modernization in Mexico City
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) coordinated an aerial transfer of a 56-year-old patient from Tapachula, Chiapas, to Mexico City. Managed by the IMSS Virtual Center for Emergency and Disaster Operations (CVOED), the ‘bed-to-bed’ transfer involved constant medical supervision and assistance from Jet Medical paramedics to move the patient from an air ambulance to the Hospital de Especialidades at the Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI. The patient, requiring specialized care for a rare medical condition, has entered a high-complexity clinical protocol under a multidisciplinary team. In conjunction with these medical services, IMSS has completed a modernization of two intensive care units at the Siglo XXI National Medical Center. This project involved an investment of over 34 million pesos to add 20 beds and upgrade essential electrical, medical gas, and environmental control systems.
