The INACRAFT 2026 exhibition opened at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) under the theme ‘Technocraft’. The event, inaugurated by Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and supported by the Indonesian Handicraft Exporters and Producers Association (ASEPHI), aims to integrate traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to increase product competitiveness and engage younger creators. Participants showcased various methods of blending cultural identity with innovation. Examples included the use of contemporary designs for traditional South Sulawesi textiles like Sengkang Silk and Toraja Weaving, as well as the incorporation of eco-friendly materials such as recycled glass. As the exhibition progressed through October 11, focus remained on driving industry innovation and ~~regeneration. Key developments highlighted included~~ regeneration, including the use of non-machine ~~looms to improve weaver efficiency, the exploration of~~ looms, palm oil waste ~~as an alternative~~ for batik wax, and ‘eco-wastra’ research by the National Research and Innovation Agency ~~(BRIN) into ‘eco-wastra’ using natural plant dyes. By October 14, the fair continued to serve as a major platform for Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to explore global markets. The Palm Oil Fund Management Agency (BPDP) joined the event to support MSMEs utilizing ~~recycled polyester from plastic waste~~ plantation commodities like coconut, cocoa, and palm oil for ~~fashion products.~~ products such as batik fabrics, palm leaf sandals, and coconut leaf bags. The exhibition also highlighted inclusive business models, such as Kreasi Tuli Indonesia, which empowers people with disabilities within the creative process, alongside eco-friendly brands like Oh My Craft.
