The inaugural Taormina Music Awards were established to celebrate significant figures in music through career achievements and special recognitions at the Teatro Antico di Taormina. Prior to the event, singer Marco Masini was announced as a recipient of the Taormina Centauro Award, intended to honor excellence and innovation in entertainment. Following the ceremony, it was confirmed that rock musician Vasco Rossi received the Taormina Legend Award, accepting the honor via video message. Rossi expressed pride in how his songs have become “part of the history of multiple generations.” Other recipients included Masini, and the event featured performances by and talks from artists such as Diodato, Ermal Meta, ~~and~~ Alessio ~~Bondì. To mark the ~~goal~~ occasion, the city of ~~developing~~ Taormina planned to feature a musical path through its historic center starting September 1. Local officials, including Mayor Cateno De Luca and Foundation President Valeria Brancato, emphasized the ambition to grow the awards into an international event to bolster the city’s cultural identity.
