Reports indicate separate instances of fatal violence involving family members in different Brazilian regions. In Portel, Marajó, military police arrested a man accused of killing his brother, Guilherme Dias dos Santos, via gunshot and knife wounds in the São Benedito community. The suspect was apprehended at a barbershop following a tip. In Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, a 62-year-old man was arrested after allegedly killing his 59-year-old sister with a knife. Witnesses reported the suspect appeared intoxicated and engaged in an argument with the victim. Authorities are investigating a potential motive involving an inheritance dispute. During the police intervention, the suspect reportedly attempted to harm himself. Recent reports from October 2026 highlight additional violence during political mobilizations. In Montes Claros, Councilor Iara Pimentel (PT) was injured after being struck in the head by a brick or stone thrown at a sound truck during a pro-Lula caravan; the attack also reportedly injured a child. Witnesses noted the sound truck was targeted with glass bottles and bricks by opposing demonstrators. Pimentel required medical attention from SAMU and was placed under observation at Santa Casa hospital before being discharged. Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues has classified the assault on Pimentel as the “most serious election-related occurrence recorded during the second round of the general elections.” The Ministry of Justice and Public Security reported 618 election-related incidents across Brazil, resulting in at least 57 arrests in flagrante and 152 individuals being taken into custody, with Minas Gerais recording 91 cases. In Ilhabela, São Paulo, a 56-year-old man, Cardjon Peixoto, was arrested after driving a vehicle into two children on a sidewalk during a pro-Flávio Bolsonaro demonstration. One child suffered compound fractures. While the vehicle displayed stickers supporting Luiz Inácio da Silva, authorities are investigating if the incident was a deliberate act or an accident caused by intoxication. The driver claimed he confused the accelerator and brake pedals; however, he reportedly refused a breathalyzer test, and a beer can was found inside the vehicle. The Federal Police have confirmed they will investigate the attack on the councilor in Montes Claros.
