The Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) has initiated emergency aid distributions to livestock producers in Chile following damage caused by recent weather fronts. In the Ñuble region, INDAP began distributing 65 tons of multi-species concentrated animal feed to 130 producers to mitigate the impact of wind and rain. Authorities have identified approximately 1,200 affected producers in the region, with damage ranging from livestock losses to infrastructure and irrigation issues. Preliminary estimates for recovery costs in the area could reach $1.1 billion Chilean pesos. In the Coquimbo region, specifically in La Higuera, INDAP delivered 26,000 kilograms of animal feed to 98 users. This support aims to maintain the nutritional requirements of goats during birthing season and ensure livestock welfare while natural pastures recover from July's July’s weather events.
