The first unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln concluded in a draw. After being bowled out for 113 in the first innings, trailing New Zealand A’s 317, India A staged a significant recovery in their second innings. Devdutt Padikkal led the effort with 199 runs, supported by Sai Sudharsan (91), Yash Rathod (66), and Washington Sundar (52), helping India A post a total of 516. During this innings, Padikkal also reached the milestone of 1,000 first-class runs for India A. In pursuit of a 313-run target, New Zealand A reached 187/9 before fading light forced an early end to the match. Indian pacer Auqib Nabi dismantled the New Zealand A top order, reducing them to 13/3 with figures of 3/28, but Curtis Heaphy remained unbeaten on 90 to help the hosts navigate the conditions before play was halted. In the first innings of the second unofficial Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Devdutt Padikkal scored 80 runs off 140 balls. Batting at number three, he shared a 91-run partnership with B Sai Sudharsan (41). The innings also saw Yashasvi Jaiswal and Smaran Ravichandran dismissed for ducks by Fraser Sheat. This series serves as preparation for the senior India and New Zealand Test series scheduled to begin on November 19.
