Overview

India is undergoing significant aviation infrastructure expansion through both private investment and government initiatives.

GMR Airports Infrastructure announced a $2 billion investment plan over the next five to seven years to modernize its portfolio. This initiative, involving an investment of approximately Rs 30,000 crore, utilizes the UDAN regional connectivity scheme to improve access in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, Himalayan regions, and island territories. The government is also implementing a ‘hub and spoke’ operational model to establish the country as a global aviation hub.
