The FSSAI labeled these products ‘sub-standard’ and ordered them to be relabeled as ‘rum-flavoured spirit’ or ‘whisky-flavoured spirit.’ In mid-August, Diageo reached an agreement to reformulate several brands, including McDowell’s No. 1 Celebration Matured XXX Rum, Antiquity Blue, and Royal Challenge, to resolve the dispute and lift existing bans.
