In October 2026, Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh conducted official visits to Cyprus and Greece to strengthen maritime security and strategic ties. In Cyprus, discussions with military and naval officials focused on joint training, capacity building, and emerging technologies like AI and cyber warfare, while India reaffirmed its support for Cypriot sovereignty. In Greece, the mission emphasized maritime security, coastal protection, and shipbuilding cooperation. A key component of this engagement involved a visit to the Salamis Shipyards. Shipyards to review technical and industrial capabilities. This visit highlighted an ongoing partnership with the Indian company ACT Infraport Ltd, which was formalized through a Technical Cooperation Agreement in June 2026. The collaboration aims to utilize Greek technical expertise and modern production methods to develop a new Greenfield Ship Building and Ship Repair Yard in the Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat. During the Greek mission, Defence Secretary Singh also met with Greek Deputy Minister of National Defence Athanasios Davakis in Athens. These discussions were intended to expand defense cooperation through policy planning, joint staff talks, and capacity-building exercises. Additionally, Singh announced the launch of revamped Ministry of Defence and Department of Defence websites, which are now available in 22 official Indian languages to improve digital accessibility.
