During India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced several national initiatives focused on technological advancement and social empowerment. A primary component of these plans is a large-scale effort to provide artificial intelligence (AI) skill training to one crore youth to strengthen India’s position in the global digital economy. Following these announcements, the Indian government launched a specific nationwide cloud and AI skilling initiative. Managed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation, Cultus Education, and Amazon Web Services, the program aims to provide foundational literacy to 150,000 learners. The initiative specifically targets youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to support the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, including a specialized program to provide intensive, job-ready training for 10,000 participants. Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary stated that equipping youth with future-ready skills is essential to the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. To facilitate this, the program will be delivered online and includes a National Hackathon, allowing participants to demonstrate their solutions to industry stakeholders.
