Economic engagement between India and New Zealand has progressed from preliminary discussions toward the implementation of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Initial efforts focused on strengthening trade and investment through sessions held by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, addressing sectors such as energy, water, food security, and business management expertise. The agreement is expected to take effect next month. Under the terms, 100 per cent of Indian exports to New Zealand will receive duty-free entry, eliminating previous tariffs of up to 10 per cent on items including automobiles, auto parts, ceramics, and carpets. Additionally, New Zealand has pledged to invest USD 20 billion in India over the next 15 years.
