Indian automotive festive season demand and response
Overview
During the October 2026 festive season, major automotive manufacturers in India launched significant discount programs and scaled up production to meet high consumer demand.
Initially, companies such as Kia India and Maruti Suzuki announced various promotional offers. Kia India provided benefits of up to ₹1.70 lakh on the Kia Carnival and various incentives for models like the Clavis, Sonet, and Seltos. Maruti Suzuki offered benefits through its Nexa channel, including up to Rs 1.36 lakh on the Grand Vitara Sigma.
To manage the resulting demand, automakers increased manufacturing capacity and dealer inventory. Maruti Suzuki reported 2.2 lakh pending bookings and commissioned two new production lines to add 5 lakh in capacity. Hyundai Motor India prepared four to five weeks of inventory, while Mahindra & Mahindra scaled its manufacturing capacity for utility and electric vehicles to 68,000 units per month to reduce customer waiting periods.
