Indian police probe suspicious deaths

In late July 2026 Indian authorities began a series of investigations into a number of unexplained fatalities. On July 26, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district found a young man with severe head injuries near a college, prompting a homicide inquiry and the collection of forensic evidence and CCTV footage. The same day, Rajasthan police discovered the body of a 27‑year‑old hotel guest in Jaipur, launching a parallel forensic examination and review of hotel records while awaiting a post‑mortem.

Two days later, Uttar Pradesh investigators reported two additional deaths under suspicious circumstances. A woman was found with a cut throat inside a locked room in the village of Bati, Mathura, leading to the deployment of forensic and canine teams and a pending post‑mortem to determine the cause. In Greater Noida, a 26‑year‑old woman was recovered from a canal after her vehicle entered the water; while her husband claimed an accident, her brother accused him of murder. Police are examining both accident and homicide possibilities, with forensic analyses ongoing.

These reports illustrate a widening pattern of police scrutiny over multiple, seemingly unrelated deaths across northern Indian states, with authorities repeatedly relying on forensic examination, CCTV review, and post‑mortem findings to ascertain the nature of each incident.
