Leading up to the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Indian shooter Aakash Bhardwaj was selected to represent the country in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event. Bhardwaj, who transitioned to shooting from athletics and rugby, overcame significant financial challenges and intensive training requirements to qualify. During the competition, the Indian shooting team achieved success in the men’s 10m air rifle event. Himanshu Dhillon earned a silver medal, while Rudrankksh Patil secured bronze. Additionally, Dhillon, Patil, and Parth Mane won a silver medal in the team event. These results contributed to India’s total shooting tally of five medals, including four silvers and one bronze. In the men’s 10m air rifle individual competition, China’s Sheng Lihao won gold with a Games and Asian record score of 254.2. In the team event, the Chinese trio set a new world record, finishing ahead of India and South Korea. Following his bronze medal win, Rudrankksh Patil expressed frustration regarding a lack of recognition, questioning why he has not received the Arjuna Award despite being a former world champion with multiple international titles. Patil noted that he has applied for the honor for three consecutive years.
