Following directions from the Election Commission of India, India (ECI), several states have launched special drives to revise electoral rolls and enroll new voters. In Kerala, the initiative includes digital help desks and a “Campus to Booth” campaign to target young and first-time voters. Tamil Nadu and Chennai have established registration camps at polling stations to simplify the inclusion process, while Maharashtra is utilizing college registration camps and house-to-house outreach to include eligible voters and remove ineligible names. The Election Commission of India ECI has reinforced that electoral rolls cannot be altered through automated processes without authorized officers and specific statutory procedures. In Odisha, a three-day special registration drive resulted in 33,515 new applications, with a significant majority—32,067—submitted 32,067 submitted by young and first-time voters. To support this, the administration established 26,446 special camps, and Booth Level Officers in the state will continue door-to-door verification and assistance through the end of October. In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar Jha reported that over 400,000 Form 6 applications have been received since October 1, with approximately 192,851 coming from citizens aged 18 to 19. Meanwhile, in Telangana, authorities have been directed to hold special enrollment camps at every polling station on October 15 and 16 to assist eligible voters missing from draft rolls. Booth Level Officers in Telangana are also conducting house-to-house visits, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 9. Other regional efforts include Kerala’s “Campus to Booth” campaign, Tamil Nadu’s registration camps at polling stations, and Maharashtra’s use of college registration camps and house-to-house outreach to include eligible voters and remove ineligible names.
