During a Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Committee meeting in Da Nang, officials discussed accelerating infrastructure projects like the Hanoi-Vientiane expressway and railway connections, as well as expanding collaboration in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Vietnamese investment in Laos reached $638.3 million across 20 projects in the first seven months of 2026, representing a 4.2-fold increase over the previous year. Domestically, Vietnam’s digital technology industry reported significant growth in August 2026, with revenues exceeding 680 trillion VND. Meanwhile, the government continues executing a massive restructuring of the public education system, aiming to reduce public educational institutions by approximately 46.7% before the 2026–27 academic year.
