Indonesian cultural and culinary celebrations

Overview

Indonesia has hosted various events focused on cultural preservation and culinary heritage. In late September 2026, Jakarta’s Pekan Komponis Indonesia showcased the Minangkabau silek tradition by integrating its physical movements and sounds into musical compositions. Simultaneously, Semarang celebrated the Mooncake Festival to honor Chinese heritage and promote social harmony.

In October 2026, Jakarta hosted culinary initiatives including the ‘Silk Road Culinary Experience’ at Plaza Indonesia, a long-term program featuring rotating chef-led menus. Additionally, GoFood launched the ‘Little Bandung by GoFood’ pop-up at Pasaraya Blok M from October 23 to 25, 2026. This initiative brought legendary and viral merchants from Bandung, such as Iga Bakar Si Jangkung and Kartika Sari, to the capital ahead of the 2026 National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas). Dani Oktobianto, VP of Sales at Gojek, stated the program aims to support merchant growth by using technology to “expand market access and introduce unique local flavors to new customers outside their home cities.”
