Indonesian customs and security enforcement actions

Overview

Indonesian authorities have conducted various operations to intercept and destroy smuggled and illegal excise goods.

In late September, Indonesian Customs and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) intercepted suspected smuggled items, including used clothing and vodka, near the Entikong border post with Malaysia.

By late October, enforcement actions expanded to include large-scale destruction of illicit products. In Samarinda, officials destroyed nearly one million illegal cigarettes and thousands of liters of illegal alcohol and e-cigarette liquid, valued at approximately Rp1.97 billion. Additionally, in West Java, customs officials intercepted 225,000 sticks of illegal cigarettes on the Cipali Toll Road during a bus inspection, an operation estimated to have a value of Rp326.25 million.
