Indonesian food and agricultural industry developments

Overview

Indonesia is seeing increased activity in food research and agricultural technology aimed at supporting national food security and self-sufficiency.

PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk is expanding its Indofood Riset Nugraha (IRN) program, which has reached its twentieth year. The program provides funding and mentorship to undergraduate researchers to bridge the gap between academic innovation and market application. Additionally, the SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia 2026 exhibition is scheduled for November in Jakarta to connect the domestic food and beverage industry with global markets.

Further industry developments include the Nusantara Livestock & Poultry (NLP) Expo and INDOGRITECH Expo, set for November 2026 in BSD City. These exhibitions focus on enhancing technology access across agricultural and livestock supply chains, showcasing innovations in animal nutrition, aquaculture, modern plantation technologies, and post-harvest solutions.

In addition to these events, the 27th annual KRISTA InterFOOD 2026 trade show is scheduled to take place from November 4–7 at NICE PIK 2 in Jakarta. Hosted by Krista Exhibitions, the event expects 95,000 professional visitors and features 1,100 participants from 16 nations, including 100 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The exhibition includes dedicated pavilions from the United States, China, and Thailand. Daud D. Salim, CEO of Krista Exhibitions Group, stated the event serves as a strategic platform to “connect innovation with business opportunities,” aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s food and beverage industry globally. The show will be held alongside the Seafood Show Asia Expo and ALL Indonesia Cooltech Expo.
