Indonesian police have conducted various operations targeting theft, robbery, and narcotics across several regions. In Riau, authorities arrested members of a jewelry theft syndicate, while in Medan, suspects were shot during a robbery investigation. Police also dismantled motorcycle theft syndicates in Jakarta and Kendari, and conducted drug raids in Surabaya that resulted in the arrest of several individuals, including members of a regional legislative council. In a recent hotel drug raid in Surabaya, police arrested eight individuals, including three members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from East Java representing the Gerindra party from Malang, Banyuwangi, and Situbondo. Authorities seized ecstasy pills and methamphetamine residue. Because the evidence fell below the threshold set by the Supreme Court Circular, the suspects are being processed through restorative justice rather than immediate detention. The Gerindra party in East Java indicated it would pursue sanctions, including potential dismissal, if allegations are proven. Regional enforcement efforts continue to show significant results. In North Sumatra, police resolved 28 cases of aggravated theft and detained 29 suspects within a 24-hour period on September 28, 2026. In East Java, regional police reported uncovering 1,870 narcotics cases between July and September 2026, resulting in 2,382 suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of meth and ecstasy. In Riau, authorities captured a fugitive identified as JA, the alleged mastermind behind an 11-inmate prison escape in May 2025, after 16 months on the run. Meanwhile, in South Sulawesi, an active officer from the Pangkep Police is under investigation by the Propam division for alleged involvement in a theft in the Maros region. Additionally, police in South Sumatra have been recognized for community development programs, such as the ‘Cheap Food Movement,’ and the reactivation of 224 community security units to enhance local environmental security.
