Indonesian regional authorities are continuing to expand the accessibility and efficiency of public services through digitalization and targeted social support. In late August, efforts focused on facilitating tax payments in Pekanbaru and via mobile Samsat services in the Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi regions. This was followed by a shift toward identity and documentation services, including Pekanbaru’s ‘Sabtu Ceria’ program and efforts in Subulussalam to increase Digital Population Identity (IKD) activation. By late August 2026, administrative initiatives have increasingly embraced digital integration. In Serang Regency, the ‘Aku Desa Digital’ program has expanded to 137 villages, enabling residents to access digital population administration services locally to reduce travel time and costs. Palangka Raya has introduced the ‘ANAK ITAH’ service, which utilizes hospital partnerships to integrate the issuance of birth certificates, updated Family Cards, and child identity cards for newborns. Regional governments are also addressing social and educational needs. In Pekanbaru, authorities are transitioning students back to face-to-face learning following haze-related remote instruction, with plans to distribute free school uniforms to tens of thousands of elementary and junior high students by October 2026. Meanwhile, in Gorontalo, officials are fast-tracking identity document replacements for families affected by recent fires. Tangerang City has also reaffirmed that unmarried citizens may obtain independent Family Cards if they meet specific administrative requirements. In early September 2026, revenue agencies further enhanced service delivery. Pekanbaru’s Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) expanded its mobile tax service program, deploying units to residential areas on weekends to facilitate Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) payments. This expansion occurs alongside a regional tax penalty waiver program scheduled to run through September 30.
