The Indonesian government is managing various student aid initiatives, including the KIP Kuliah scholarship and the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP). Regarding the KIP Kuliah program, the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK) identified irregularities where Rp2.7 billion was distributed to 320 deceased students. In response, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has called for more rigorous data verification to ensure funds reach eligible recipients. The program distinguishes between educational costs paid to universities and living allowances paid directly to students. Separately, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has opened registration for Phase II of the 2026 PIP scholarship. This process involves schools and regional offices verifying student data and submitting proposals via the SiPintar application. To ensure aid reaches priority groups, student data is being cross-referenced with the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). Expanding these efforts, the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) is being extended for the 2026/2027 academic year to include kindergarten (TK) students. Eligible preschool students from poor or vulnerable families may receive annual aid of Rp450,000, provided they are Indonesian citizens registered in the Dapodik database. Additionally, the BSI Scholarship 2026 has been launched by BSI Maslahat to provide higher education opportunities for high-achieving children from low-income families. Since 2021, this program has supported 21,153 beneficiaries through various educational levels in collaboration with 190 campus partners, aiming to foster social mobility.
