Throughout late July and August 2026, Indonesian university KKN (community service) teams implemented diverse projects focused on economic digitalization, agricultural resilience, and waste management. In Central Java, UIN Walisongo Semarang students launched a “UMKM Go Digital” programme in Desa Galih, assisting micro-enterprises with Google Maps registration, QRIS digital payments, and logo redesigns. In Demak, they applied digital marketing strategies for a fried gethuk business. In Kendal, students from Posko 192 supported MSMEs in Sukolilan Village by providing promotional banners to establish visual identities, while Posko 194 focused on digital literacy at SD Negeri 2 Purwosari, teaching sixth-graders to identify hoaxes and manage screen time. In Boyolali, UNDIP students worked with MSMEs in Jerukan Village on inventory management. Educational and social initiatives expanded through programs like “Kuy Menabung” in Semarang and environmental advocacy workshops for the Tasawuf Underground punk community in South Tangerang. Students also supported local health services through Posyandu participation. Environmental and waste management efforts saw significant growth. In addition to UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s zero-waste farming in Maluku Tengah and UNDIP’s plastic-to-paving-block conversion in Pemalang, Universitas Bina Bangsa (Uniba) conducted eco-craft training in Serang Regency to teach 3R principles. In Magelang, a Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) lecturer assisted Kalibening Village in drafting waste governance regulations and developing a digital waste application. Other initiatives included Unikama’s Rocket Stoves in Malang and Universitas Hasanuddin’s earthquake recovery support in Nusa Tenggara Timur. In early September 2026, UIN Walisongo students expanded their environmental efforts in Demak by collaborating with the Wonoagung Environmental Education Community (KELING) to clean waste accumulations along the Sipon River. Supported by the Demak Regency Environmental Agency (DLH), which provided transport trucks, the initiative included plans to prevent future illegal dumping through riverbank stabilization, fencing, and warning signs.
