Weather forecasts issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) cover various regions in Indonesia. In August, Riau province and Batam were expected to experience cloudy conditions, with light rain observed in parts of Indragiri Hilir and potential morning rain in Rokan Hulu and Kampar. Batam was predicted to reach temperatures of up to 33 degrees Celsius. By mid-September, forecasts for West Java and Jakarta indicated a mix of sunny and cloudy conditions. While many areas in West Java were expected to be sunny, light rain was predicted for Bandung, Bogor, and Bekasi. In Jakarta, light rain was forecasted for parts of West, South, and East Jakarta, while other regions remained cloudy with temperatures between 28 and 29 degrees Celsius. As of late September, BMKG forecasts indicate partly cloudy to heavily cloudy conditions for Bali, including Denpasar, as well as for Semarang, Surabaya, Mataram, and Kupang. In Jakarta, all administrative cities and the Thousand Islands are expected to be partly cloudy during the morning and afternoon, though light rain is predicted for South and East Jakarta during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures in the capital are expected to range between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius. Other regional forecasts include potential thunderstorms in Jambi, Pontianak, and Tanjung Selor, moderate rain in Medan and Nabire, and light rain in Bandung, Palu, and Jayapura. By late September 2026, BMKG issued warnings regarding high waves of 2.5 to 4 meters and tidal flooding risks across ten provinces, affecting coastal areas in Sumatra, Java, Bali, and parts of Sulawesi and Maluku. In Bali, El NiƱo is expected to cause a delayed and shorter rainy season, starting in late November 2026 and peaking in February 2027, which may result in higher rainfall intensity.
