Industrial fires in Germany

Overview

In mid-October 2026, a fire occurred at a galvanization plant in Solingen, Germany. The incident, which involved various chemicals, required a hazardous materials response. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze in a galvanization tank using foam extinguishers, with damage limited to a small section of the tank.

On October 25, 2026, a larger industrial fire broke out in a metal hall in Gladbeck. Due to the nature of the burning metal, a large-scale operation involving 87 responders and 37 vehicles was required. The Technical Relief Agency used a backhoe to move burning metal outdoors for specialized extinguishing. While the NINA warning app was used to notify the public, authorities reported that no hazardous substances were detected during measurements.
