The Indy NXT championship race has intensified as the season approaches its conclusion. Entering the Milwaukee Mile weekend, Enzo Fittipaldi held the lead with 476 points, followed by Nikita Johnson with 475 points, and Tymek Kucharczyk in third place, trailing by 18 points. By the final weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the standings shifted. Nikita Johnson moved into the lead with 505 points, followed by Enzo Fittipaldi with 502 points. Kucharczyk remained in third place with 476 points, trailing the leader by 29 points. With 108 points still available across the final two races, the title remained undecided. The championship winner is set to receive a scholarship of approximately one million dollars to compete in the Indy 500 and an IndyCar round. As the season finale at Laguna Seca began, Kucharczyk entered as the first Polish driver in over two decades to be in a realistic position to win a major international single-seater championship at this level. During the first of the final races, Kucharczyk secured pole position but faced setbacks. Following a slow start, he was involved in a collision with Myles Rowe, resulting in a tenth-place finish. With Johnson finishing second in that race, Kucharczyk’s mathematical chances for the title have become significantly more difficult, though the championship remains undecided heading into the final round. Following the collision, Kucharczyk issued a statement regarding online comments directed at Rowe, stating that ‘racism is unacceptable.’
