The National Institute of Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP) in the Dominican Republic marked its 46th anniversary, emphasizing its tripartite governance model involving the State, employers, and workers. Director General Maira Morla Pineda noted that this collaborative structure is vital for aligning technical training with labor market needs. Subsequent reports detailed the institution’s impact on employment and productivity. Data from the Social Security Treasury (TSS) indicated that 57% of graduates secured formal employment, a figure that does not include those who were already employed or became entrepreneurs. Between 2025 and August 2026, INFOTEP conducted 91,166 training actions, resulting in 1,409,943 graduates. The institute has also undergone significant physical expansion, growing from eight centers in 2020 to 69 centers in 2026. Its historical reach includes specialized courses for diverse groups, such as incarcerated individuals and Dominicans living abroad. During the anniversary celebrations in Santo Domingo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Monsignor Tomás Morel Diplán, participated in a thanksgiving mass. He emphasized that education and technical training are “essential tools for developing human talent and contributing to national growth,” calling for the continued expansion of opportunities for youth and adults to ensure successful integration into the labor market.
