Injective has continued its technical and deflationary developments through the summer. The IIP-677 mainnet upgrade (v1.20.3) went live following 72% affirmative votes, enhancing reliability and cross-chain interoperability. A subsequent governance proposal, IIP-678, was introduced to replace an expired IBC light client. To reinforce its deflationary model, an August community buyback program was launched, resulting in the burning of 27,400 INJ tokens. Protocol revenue has reached approximately $3 million, driven by burn auctions on the Cosmos side and EIP-1559 base-fee burns on the EVM side. To support the upcoming launch of its trading app, the network announced a Growth Marketing Manager role to oversee user acquisition and go-to-market campaigns. The INJ token has experienced significant volatility. After trading near $4.91 and maintaining support around $4.70, analysts initially looked for a breakout above $5.45. However, the token later faced downward pressure, falling nearly 10% in a single day to approximately $4.17. While the price has dropped below its 20-day and 50-day simple moving averages, it remains above its 200-day moving average of roughly $4.13, suggesting the macro bull structure may still be intact despite a sequence of lower highs since its June peak of $7.35. By late August, the token showed signs of a potential bullish breakout, trading at approximately $5.04 with a market capitalization of $504.09 million. This recovery coincides with the network’s expansion into real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, artificial intelligence, and compliance infrastructure. A pilot program involving POSCO International and LG CNS has begun incorporating real trade data and commercial invoices to advance these RWA capabilities. In August 2026, Injective Institutional Services registered as a transfer agent with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). By early September 2026, INJ reached a three-month high of $6.70, supported by increased trading volume and a reduction in circulating supply.
