Speculation regarding the development of ‘Injustice 3’ has intensified following leaks concerning the game’s roster and production staff. A leaked resume from motion capture professional Mackensi Emory suggests that Supergirl and Batwoman are being developed as playable characters. The potential inclusion of Batwoman has prompted discussion regarding the game’s narrative, as the character Kate Kane died in the established ‘Injustice’ comic book continuity. Observers suggest the title may introduce a different version of the character, ignore previous deaths, or function as a franchise reboot. These rumors are supported by the involvement of animator and stunt coordinator Jake Huang, who recently worked on ‘Mortal Kombat 1’. They also follow reports of private playtest sessions organized by the Good Gamer Group in Culver City, California, targeting high-level players for an unannounced ‘AAA 2D fighting game’ near Warner Bros. Discovery headquarters. NetherRealm Studios development head Ed Boon has ~~since~~ addressed the rumors. While Boon dismissed specific claims that the studio is currently testing ‘Injustice 3’, ‘Mortal Kombat 13’, or ‘Mortal Kombat 9’ as ‘all false’, he clarified that a lack of external testing does not confirm a project is not in development. He stated, ‘I appreciate your interest and enthusiasm. But the fact that a game is not currently undergoing external testing does not necessarily mean it is not in development.’ Boon also debunked a satirical social media post regarding a purported partnership between NetherRealm and Insomniac Games.
