In June 2026, Insta360 entered the compact gimbal market with the Luna Ultra, a pocket-size dual-lens camera co-engineered with Leica. The device pairs a 1-inch 50-MP main sensor (f/1.8) with a 1/1.3-inch telephoto module (f/2.0), delivering 8K video at 30 fps, Dolby Vision HDR, 10-bit I-Log, 12× optical zoom (6× loss-less) and 47 GB of internal storage. A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen serves as a remote controller and wireless monitor. Pricing was set at US$ 769 (standard) and US$ 969 for a Creator Combo. Within days of the launch, DJI filed two infringement suits in the U.S. Eastern District of Texas, alleging the Luna Ultra copies the design and utility patents of its Osmo Pocket line. Insta360 responded with countersuits, and on 16 June filed a separate U.S. suit accusing DJI of infringing its gimbal-stabilisation patents. In July, DJI withdrew its U.S. actions and, alongside Chinese rival Yingshi, shifted the dispute to Chinese courts. DJI is slated for a hearing in Shenzhen on 3 August, while Yingshi launched six counter-suits nationwide. As the legal battle continues, Insta360 has expanded its product line.
