Inter Milan preseason tour and player fitness status

Inter Milan has moved to secure youth talent Leonardo Bovio with a multi-year professional contract renewal. This decision follows the young central defender’s performance during the preseason tour, specifically his ability to mark Kolo Muani during the match against Juventus in Perth.

As the club prepares for the Serie A opener against Monza on August 22, senior players Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram, and new signing John Stones have resumed training at Appiano Gentile. Stones, who joined from Manchester City, has begun training alongside former teammate Manuel Akanji.

Despite their return, coaching staff remain cautious. There are concerns regarding whether two weeks of training will provide sufficient conditioning for Martínez and Thuram to be fully match-ready and to mitigate injury risks. Additionally, the club is evaluating the roles of other youth prospects, such as Valentin Carboni and Pio Esposito, for the upcoming campaign.

Beyond player fitness, the club is actively pursuing transfer targets to strengthen the squad. Recruitment efforts are currently focused on finding a right-sided player, with Djed Spence and Moussa Diaby identified as primary candidates. Negotiations regarding Diaby involve discussions concerning his current contract at Al-Ittihad and potential player exchanges.
